Kid's House News

It’s hard to believe that 2012 has already arrived. With the New Year there have been some changes in the Youth Ministry program. Firstly the Kids house has been renamed Fillmore Center, to honor the cofounders of the Unity movement. We also have a new Director. Ken Sapp has taken over the program and is excited at the opportunity. When we choose new leadership we expect change, and while we do not always look forward to that change everything is always in Divine Order. Ken would like you to embrace his vision, which is as follows;
We see "Your thoughts create your world". We see entire curriculums based upon right thinking, thinking that serves us, and thinking that will give us the results we're looking for. And we see meditation and positive control techniques taught in our community so that, now, our attention is no longer taken over by the constant internal dialogue of the past. Instead, now it is self-directed, directed by our creative impulses, directed by our love for life and our responsibility to create a better world for our children. This is the year of “Discovering the Power Within” and January is the month of Healing, so the Youth Ministries department will be following with lessons on healing ones self this month. Follow our weekly lesson plan in the e-Bulletin sent by youth Ministries each week.

The Uni-teens and Y.O.U are in Westcliffe, Colorado for their Winter Rally and we will report on that event next month. We do so want to thank our community for the generous support to our groups that enable those in need of scholarship help, so that all who want can attend.

The Y.O.U with hold a fundraiser luncheon after both services January 15th. Yes we have just returned from rally, but it’s time to start raising money for our next event in April. As always we thank you for your generous support.

If you feel the calling to get involved with the youth of our community please contact Ken Sapp at (719) 322-5977. We are looking for teachers at all levels, and will be recruiting two additional sponsors for our Y.O.U. during the next few months.

Thank you, Ann Luciani! We nowa Youth Ministry Weekly E-Bulletin for all the families and Youth Department volunteers. Ann, who puts her heart into this endeavor every week, to make sure everyone knows all the details of what’s going on and is coming up at the Fillmore Center, has blessed us. Even if you just skim over it to find your own child's class it is so useful and fun and serves to keep everyone informed and on track, (including teachers!). If you aren't involved with the Youth program but would enjoy getting on this mailing list, just let us know!

As Cathy Duryea moves forward on a new path, saying good-bye to the Youth Director's position here at Unity in the Rockies, she wants you all to know how grateful she is for all of your love and support the past many years. She explained, "This has been a bittersweet decision, but I feel strongly that it is the right time to move on. It's exciting to look forward to whatever Spirit guides me to do next. I'll still be around here andwill surely see me probably more than ever before."

Uni-TOTS News
We continue with the Uni-tot curriculum called “What a Wonderful World- Children exploring their Spirituality”. This curriculum offers hands on experiences that will help draw forth the truth principles that already reside within each child through play, stories, creative expression activities like role play, art and music, meditation and prayer, sharing time, and more...

Uni-BABIES News
Our littlest ones of Unity are cared for in an atmosphere of love and acceptance and fun by our Unity ‘Angels’ in the nursery, which is near the sanctuary for your comfort during the 9 and 11:00 service.      We want to continue to offer childcare for children (Infant—Kindergarten) during the 9 a.m. service but need your help. We are looking for that special ‘angel’ to be available if children are present (if no children arrive, you may go to church).

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Please see Cathy Duryea if you would like to: Assist as a Helping Hand in the Uni-Tot or Uni-Kid class at 11:00 (once a month); be a Co-leader in the Uniteen (middle-school) class at 11:00; volunteer as an “Angel” (caregiver) in the Nursery at 9:00; be a “Guest Teacher” in any age group, sharing your special wisdom, stories, and or activities. We still have a few slots to fill and you may be exactly who we are looking for.

Note to Our Unity Adults:
We are still looking for a few Children’s Ministry
Volunteers to make our team complete.
Please contact Cathy Duryea at 719-287-1416; or Cathy2016@aol.com if you are interested in assisting or teaching in any of the classes.

Note to Parents & Guardians:
You can spend quality time with your own child by volunteering one Sunday
a month in your child’s class. Try It, You’ll like it! And so will your child.
Just ONE Sunday a month will make a difference.

TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE
There are also opportunities to share your light and your gifts by being a teacher (sign up for one or more Sundays a month). If this calls to you, please see Cathy Duryea, or email: Cathy2016@aol.com, phone 719-520-1657. No experience is necessary and all curriculum is provided!
NOTE: If you have been serving as a helping hand, it may be time to step up to serve as a teacher. S t r e t c h yourself! Step out of your comfort zone -- IT’S FUN!

BE A “GUEST” TEACHER!
You may have something special to teach and would like to share it with the children as a one time thing. Or quarterly, or something like that. If this calls to you see Cathy, Sundays at the Kid's House or call.....

Meditation Room
The little prayer room in the back of the Kid’s House has a new look and feel. This room is for everyone in our church family. You are invited to come over any time and step into the beautiful energy of our Meditation room. You may sit in silence, or if you desire, you may do a prayer activity. This quarter, is a Prayer-cord activity. You may choose a cloth prayer-tie, offer a prayer, then tie the cloth to a prayer cord hanging there. The Kid’s House is usually open from about 8:45 until 12:45 every Sunday. Our Nursery in the church building, the Uni-Tot room at the Kid’s House, and Meditation Room at the Kid’s House all have beautiful new artwork on the walls, thanks to Abbey Stohs (w/ the help of her sweetie Preston). We are grateful to them for creating a heartfelt and beautiful environment for our lil’ ones and for all of us.

Uni-Tots Happenings
Spending Sunday mornings with the Uni-tots is a delightful experience, not unlike stepping into “heaven on earth” for an hour. Come share your “LIGHT” with these cherubs once or twice a month at 11:00. You won’t regret it! Speak to Cathy or call her at 719-287-1416 or email her at Cathy2016@aol.com..

We play, sing, pray, create, explore and meditate. All, while learning about God in us, in everyone and in the world. What a beautiful and sweet and joyous age to be!
Most of our Uni-tots can’t wait to get back to class each Sunday. And we, as teachers and “Helping Hands,” find it a blessing to spend this hour in their precious energy. Come see for yourself! Sign up to be a ‘Helping Hand’ one or more Sundays a month.

PARENTS and GUARDIANS take note:
To help us better serve your children, please take a few moments to fill out a registration form available in your child’s classroom. This will help us to better know the children of our Unity family, so we can provide a more enriching experience for all.
Thank you for signing the photo release forms which allow us to display pictures of your children taken during class or Unity events---There will now be photo release included in the registration forms, to take care of this for the future.
