TIOS is also aware of the great challenges faced by the orphans’ relatives, so   it
not only reaches out to the orphans but to the relatives who are caring for them.  It is
important to have the participation of the elderly relatives in the decision making process
so they can support their orphans, and learn with them.
The Resource Center was made possible through a partnership among TIOS,
CNCS (National Council to Fight Aids), and CDM (Macate Development Committee).
The CDM provided TIOS with the building needed to start the Resource Center. The
building took more than 3 months to be refurbished in order to be used by the orphans
and community.  This refurbishing included:
1.
Painting the walls;
2.
installing the electric wiring;
3.
putting safe bars on the windows and doors;
4.
building shelves and sinks;
5.
buying benches and tables for the Center;
6.
providing the building with electric energy.
CNCS provides materials necessary for the resource center to operate and for preparing
the materials to begin teaching about health safety and AIDS but they do not provide for
any construction repairs or administrative expense, which is where your donated money
has been applied.
Finally, the work was completed, and on November 7th, there will be a great
opening where the orphan children will be welcomed to their “new home away from
home”. The community and the staff from TIOS-AOSCI will get together with the
orphans to celebrate the culmination of a dream. This center will impact their lives
forever by providing them with trade abilities which can then generate income for them
and their siblings as well as providing imperative survival skills training.
