The Prayer Chaplain Program |
|
How does a Prayer Chaplain differ from a Chaplain in a hospital or care facility? Unlike hospital chaplains, Prayer Chaplains are not ordained and are not trained to counsel people. Prayer Chaplains are trained to do three things only: hold spiritual space, listen, and pray. Prayer Chaplains are not trained to go out and “minister” to the community-at-large but are trained as a lay resource to help meet the pastoral care needs within our church community. How do I get more information? If the Prayer Chaplain Program resonates with you and feels like an opportunity you would like to explore further, please plan to attend our Prayer Chaplain Orientation on Wednesday Aug 24, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. or Sunday, Aug 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. This orientation is mandatory for all those who ultimately do decide to take the next step and attend the training. Please note the training schedule provided, so that you can update your 2011/2012 calendar as all of the training is mandatory to be a Prayer Chaplain. If you have any questions, please call Linda or Richard Anthony at 719-260-1621. About the Trainers... Linda and Richard Anthony met and were married at Unity Church of Hawaii 21 years ago. They have been teaching Unity classes for over 15 years. Linda is a Licensed Unity Teacher and Richard has completed the Personal Development Program offered by Unity Institute. They received their Prayer Chaplain Trainer’s training from Rev. Lei Lanni Burt in May of 2009. They are both very excited about the positive impact that the Prayer Chaplain Program has had on our spiritual community. Prayer Chaplain Testimonials... "The thanks and gratitude I have received in appreciation from Unity in the Rockies members for the monthly calls, phone messages, and prayers person to person have been very rewarding to me. Who knew spirit would work so that one call went to a Unity member stranded in an airport? I am so glad I took the prayer chaplain training and am very thankful for this way to serve Divine Mother-Father God." ~ Sylvia Strickland "For me becoming a Prayer Chaplain was filled with unexpected blessings, mixed with a bit of trepidation. Through Linda and Richard Anthony's expert instruction and with the encouragement of the entire team, misgivings were soon replaced with joy and spiritual growth. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Unity in the Rockies in a way that has made a profound difference for others and for me." ~ Eve Sckolnik Schedule for 2011 Training For the Training Schedule, please pick up a Prayer Chaplain Brochure in the Foyer. |
