The Heart to Lead
Women as Allies for the Greater Good
Tuesday, April 5th, 6:30 pm

The Heart to Lead promo image

Tickets are $10, with $5 going to the church!
This is a premier of a documentary film that shows intimate narratives from well-known women, as well as grass roots women who are emerging into the evolutionary awareness of their highest truths on the journey of self-discovery. We discover the natural inclination of The Feminine to lead by example, to be moved by the inner impulse of life itself to give, to be, to love, to grow more. The film demonstrates and celebrates ways that increasing numbers of women are following an innate and deliberate path of personal change and social action. I illuminates the alliance and movement that is conceived through the heart-an awakening to a deep sense of connectedness to the living world..
Easter Bonnets & Tie Gathering
Easter bonnet and tie photoWednesday, April 20th, 6:30 pm

So you'd like to participate in our festive Easter FUNraiser and don't have an Easter Bonnet or don't have one you'd enjoy wearing? Whether you'd prefer your bonnet or tie to be amusing or elegant, and whether your innate artistic talent is well developed or at a preschool level, these opportunities are for you!

How to create a unique hand-decorated Easter Bonnet or Tie:
1.) Join our gathering at Unity
April 20th at 6:30.
Bring what you have from the following list:
old or new bonnets & ties, scissors, hot glue guns & glue sticks, fabrics, scrap booking papers, sequins, beads, feathers, silk flowers, and anything else that gets your creative juices flowing.  We'll have tea & coffee and something to snack on as we create. Crafty kids may participate if they bring an adult.
2.) Create at home, by yourself or with friends or family.
3.) Donate an extra bonnet or tie before Easter Sunday.

On Easter Sunday, these bonnets & ties will be displayed on a large corkboard to be purchased for a love offering of any amount

As we expand our own spiritual awareness, we can learn from others who have experienced the Divine in powerful and different ways. An exploration of a variety of faith traditions need not make us question are own (although it may). We can investigate other faith traditions so that we might live in a more understanding and compassionate way and so that we are able to share our world with others rather than limit its occupancy to people who are “just like us.”

Join Ahriana for the first four sessions of this eight-session program. We’ll look at Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism and Paganism in the first four weeks. Each session will be two hours long with time to break into small groups and discuss spiritual concepts of interest.

You need not attend all sessions.

Love offerings are appreciated.

• Donna will share her transformational story of what happened when her channel opened, and will give you readings from her Guide, Jonah, throughout the workshop.
• Donna will teach you to transform FEAR to LOVE, which is the key to opening this level of guidance.
• We will work with your Guides/Angels, allowing opportunities to practice communicating with them.
• We will look at applying this to your daily life, allowing LOVE to guide you to your highest calling.
• You will receive a Tool Kit of information, for support as you move forward.
Space in this workshop is filling quickly, so please REGISTER early with Donna at DonnaBallenger@comcast.net OR (719)531-5569 to reserve your spot, and ensure you receive your Tool Kit. Donna Ballenger was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. She approached the experience with LOVE and GRATITUDE, opening a “Channel of Grace.” Her life’s work is now to heal hearts, by connecting people with the grace of peace and understanding. Her writing, workshops and readings pave the way for true transformation.
Beyond the Walls Projects
Serve, Empower, and Transform The Beyond the Walls Team is collecting toiletry items for the Family Medical Clinics SET program (Serve, Empower, and Transform). This program provides basic medical services and holistic health programs to uninsured, underinsured and Low income people. The donated items will go to their Homeless Clinic and Comprehensive Healthcare Re-Entry Program Patients. Please see the box or take home flyer in the foyer for a list of items needed and donate what you can.

Spring Fling    The Beyond the Walls Team is running SPRING FLING again this April and May. Fling your gently used job interview and work appropriate women’s dress shoes (flat, low or medium heels only), purses, suits or dresses, and jewelry our way. We are also accepting NEW pantyhose and knee highs. We will be donating these items to the Women’s Resource Agency’s ‘Dress for Success’ program which helps women in the community become self sufficient by providing appropriate dress for job interviews.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Food Drive     The BEYOND THE WALLS team wants to remind you of our ongoing food drive, which collects food for Marion House and Westside Cares. Although you can donate items any time you want, we are officially declaring the first Sunday of every month as FOOD DRIVE DAY!! Please see the Food Drive tub in the foyer, or the Beyond the Walls section of the bulletin board, for a list of current needs. Please do what you can to help those in need. We appreciate anything that you can give.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Also: For Children's Birthdays (Westside Cares): Crayons, Coloring Books, Toys (small enough to fit in a shoebox)

Love Basket    The Love Basket is an ongoing year round project which provides one-time ‘emergency’ financial assistance to people who attend Unity Church in the Rockies, via King Soopers gift cards. Love Basket donations are also given out with discretion to those in need in the community. To apply for assistance please contact Jayde in the office. If you wish to donate to this project, you may do so via cash or a check made out to ‘Unity Church in the Rockies’. Please put `Love Basket’ in the memo section of your check. Checks and cash can be placed in the offering envelope in the sanctuary and put in the offering basket. Be sure to write ‘Love Basket’ on the offering envelope to ensure your donation goes specifically to the Love Basket project.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT SUPPORT THIS PROJECT, AND MANY THANKS TO JAYDE FOR HER ASSISTANCE
IN MANAGING THE PROJECT.

Pop Tab Project      The little insignificant tab you pull to open your can of soda can make a significant impact to Ronald McDonald House Charities. The dollars raised through the recycled tabs program are used for the operations and supplies for the Colorado Springs Ronald McDonald House and family rooms - temporary “home-away-from-homes” for the families of seriously ill children being treated at Memorial and St. Francis Hospitals. All you have to do is pop off the tabs from your pop or other beverage cans, soup cans, pet food cans, tennis ball containers, etc. Next, save them in any container (except for milk jugs). Place your collection container in a central location in your home, at work or anywhere that is convenient. When your container is full, you can place your pop tabs in the yellow drop-off box in the foyer of the church. Also, if you would like a reusable, cardboard pop top house to use as your container (see house in Fellowship Hall), the houses are located in a pocket on front of the yellow drop-off box. You can drop off the pop tabs throughout the year (we ask that you please make your drop-offs on Sundays). Plus, the Beyond the Walls team will have quarterly collection drives, the first one scheduled for Sunday, March 27.
Why pop tabs and not the entire can? Because pop tabs are smaller and easier to store. The tabs are also paint free and pure aluminum, which increases their value and profit when recycled. So pull your tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and make a difference for families and children!

Unity Scrip Card Program
Buy Scrip Cards and Get Free Money for the Church!

Several months ago, Unity Church in the Rockies began its own scrip/gift card program, which is run by Ken Sapp. This is already creating a stream of income of $100 per month or more.. For example, you can buy a plastic King Soopers scrip/gift card which works like a debit card, for $25 or more. If you buy a gift card for $200, and spend it on gas or groceries, the Church receives a rebate of 5%, or $10.00. Since this type of card is used not just for gifts, but also for routine purchases, people often refer to them as “scrip” cards.

With King Soopers scrip cards, there is an added benefit: you can use the same card over and over again. You simply “recharge” your card at the checkout line at the same time you buy groceries, by paying for the recharge with cash, a debit card, or a check. (Most companies do not allow you to recharge their cards). You can also buy (non-re-chargeable) gift/scrip cards for Safeway and the Church receives 3% of your purchases on those cards. See the person manning the scrip program desk in the lobby after services, and make gifts to the Church when you go shopping!

The Joys of Bartering
Unity in the Rockies has organized a “Barter Club” – where you have the opportunity to share your gifts with others in exchange for theirs. What a wonderful way to meet others get involved, receive, and share.
There is a sign-up sheet on one of our bulletin boards, and soon we will also be posting a list of names, offerings and email addresses so you can begin to contact one another for an amazing exchange of Love. Chelle Nagle is the contact person for the Barter Club, and you can contact her at: wildheartlaughing@gmail.com, or 719-464-8926
